What is a 501(c)(3) organization?Were glad you asked! (we will defer to the far greater wisdom of Wikipedia here) A 501(c)(3) is a Not-For-Profit organization, organized and operated exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, testing for public safety, literary, or educational purposes, or to foster national or international amateur sports competition, or for the prevention of cruelty to children or animals. The term 501(c)(3) organization is derived from the Internal Revenue Code, Section 501(c)(3) and the tax-deductible contribution guidelines of Section 170. These exemptions apply to corporations, and any community chest, fund, or foundation, classified as such. Pretty creative huh?
