Prez on the Edge

Weekly, Outdoor FGNA Story Time

Published children’s author and neighbor, Chris Elle Dove, will lead a weekly story time on Saturday mornings at The Grove – 1222 E Grove St. – beginning at 10am on Saturday, September 12, and continuing on Saturday mornings at 10am as long as weather permits.

Bring either a blanket or chairs to sit on.

Activity sheets and silly songs are likely to accompany story time. Parents are asked to bring their own crayons or writing utensils if they wish to work on activity sheets while at The Grove. If preferred, families are welcome to simply take their activity sheets home with them.

We will spread out, and masks will be encouraged when social distancing cannot be maintained. Hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes will be available, but feel free to also bring your own.

Fall Meeting

In June we had scheduled Kathy Yoder, McLean Country Coroner, to speak. Due to the coronavirus, we cancelled the meeting and rescheduled the presentation to our August meeting, And now we have to reschedule again, to December..

Don’t forget to participate in our "Unique Items Challenge" on Facebook as you enjoy the beautiful weather wandering the neighborhood this weekend!

City Tree Trimming

Some residents have inquired about the trimming of low hanging branches on trees that are between the street and city sidewalk, and thus on city property. We received this response from David Lamb, the Assistant Superintendent of Parks: “We were in the area that includes Founders Grove for circuit trimming in 2017 we will be back to do the whole section in 2022. Our goal is to hit every tree in town at least once every 5 years. We certainly can address any issues or specific trees if we knew which block or addresses were of concern. Please feel free to share the with Council Member Emig as you see fit."

Stay well,
Amanda
